Kentucky Forward Brandon Garrison Makes Pivotal Decision to Return for 2025–26 Season
In a significant development for Kentucky basketball, forward Brandon Garrison has announced his decision to return to Lexington for the 2025–26 season. The 6-foot-10 sophomore’s commitment delivers a major boost to head coach Mark Pope’s squad, which is undergoing a considerable reshaping through the transfer portal.
Garrison, who averaged 5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last season, showed marked improvement as a sophomore. Notably, he expanded his offensive game to include perimeter shooting, converting 12 of 40 three-point attempts after not attempting a single one during his freshman year. His growth and versatility will be crucial as Kentucky looks to reestablish itself as a dominant force in the SEC.
His return comes amid a wave of new frontcourt talent arriving in Lexington. The Wildcats recently secured commitments from former Arizona State standout Jayden Quaintance and Alabama transfer Mouhamed Dioubate. Quaintance, a former five-star recruit, averaged 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks last season, earning spots on the Big 12 All-Freshman and All-Defensive Teams. Dioubate brings additional physicality and efficiency, having posted 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 62% from the field and 46% from beyond the arc.
Despite the increased competition, Garrison’s decision to stay shows his confidence in continuing to develop and earn a key role on a deep and talented roster. His experience and familiarity with the program will provide stability and leadership as the team integrates its new additions.
