Ex-Lotus F1 Car Driven by Kimi Räikkönen Sells for Over $330,000 in Paris
A piece of modern Formula 1 history has changed hands as a 2013 Lotus E21 race car, driven by former world champion Kimi Räikkönen, sold for €325,625 (over $330,000) at an RM Sotheby’s auction in Paris. The sale highlights the enduring appeal of F1 memorabilia and the strong market demand for cars linked to legendary drivers.
The Lotus E21, specifically chassis E21-04, was one of the most competitive cars of the 2013 season. The vehicle was used in 12 Grand Prix races that year, playing a key role in Lotus’s fourth-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship. Räikkönen drove the car in five races, delivering strong performances, including second-place finishes at the German and Hungarian Grands Prix. His teammate, Romain Grosjean, took over the chassis for the latter part of the season, securing multiple podium finishes, including third place in Korea, Japan, and India, as well as an impressive second-place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix.
Though the Lotus E21-04 never claimed a race victory, its consistency and competitive performance made it a highly sought-after collector’s item. Additionally, racing memorabilia from legends such as Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna was up for auction, drawing significant interest from collectors worldwide.

The Finnish driver, known for his no-nonsense personality and sheer talent behind the wheel, made a stunning return to Formula 1 with Lotus after a two-year absence.
