‘Very important’ – Jurgen Klopp confirms 30-year-old is ready to start for Liverpool on Thursday

Liverpool will face Sheffield United in the Premier League on Thursday night (4 April) at Anfield and they have received some positive injury boost ahead of the game.

With Arsenal and Manchester City winning their midweek games respectively the pressure is now on Liverpool to maintain the winning run. Another victory will take them to the top of the table and they will start as favourites against the bottom-placed side in the league.

The Reds have suffered poor luck with injuries, and it is remarkable how Jurgen Klopp has still managed to take his side to this position. As we approach the business end of the season, some of the key players are now returning from injuries, serving as a massive boost for the club.

Andy Robertson picked up an ankle injury whilst on international duty with Scotland and missed the previous game against Brighton. Klopp confirmed on Wednesday in his pre-match press conference that the 30-year-old left-back is now ready to start on Thursday.

“Yeah, and very important, by the way,” when asked if Roberton is ready to start against the Blades.

Liverpool injury update latest

Curtis Jones is set to return after a long injury lay-off but he is probably not fit to play the entire 90 minutes. Wataru Endo is doubtful against the Blades due to a knock sustained last weekend, and if he misses out, Alexis Mac Allister could be asked to play in the defensive midfield role.

If Robertson returns to the starting line-up, he will play on the left-hand side in his customary role. In that case, Joe Gomez could return to central defence as Klopp is unlikely to drop Connor Bradley after his brilliant performance in the last game.

Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to full training next week. Stefan Bajcetic has trained with the u21 side and will train with the senior side next week.
