‘You can’t’: Liverpool warned against appointing 58-year-old manager with 18 trophies

Jurgen Klopp has decided that he will step down as the Liverpool manager when the current campaign ends.

So, what has Dean Saunders said about Ange Postecoglou and Liverpool? Let’s take a look.

Liverpool told not to hire Ange Postecoglou as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement

Well, Liverpool are on the hunt for a new manager. Jurgen Klopp has already announced that he will step down from his role at Anfield at the end of the season, and one of the names being linked is that of Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham Hotspur appointed Ange Postecoglou as their manager in the summer of 2023. The 58-year-old left his role at Celtic to take charge of Spurs.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs in GiveMeSport, Liverpool will consider Postecoglou as their next manager.

Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders was discussing the managerial options for the Reds on talkSPORT, and he does not think that Postecoglou, who has won 18 major trophies (Transfermarkt) as a manager, is good enough to take charge of the Anfield club.

Saunders said about Postecoglou to Liverpool rumour on talkSPORT (6:07 pm, February 10, 2024): “It’s Liverpool Football Club. You can’t put the club in someone’s hands who is not experienced enough.”

Liverpool unlikely to hire Ange Postecoglou

In my opinion, Liverpool will not hire Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

While Postecoglou is a very good manager who did extremely well with Celtic in Scotland, he has been in charge of Tottenham for only a few months.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are among the elite. While Postecoglou has won major trophies in his career, I do not think that the Anfield hierarchy would take much notice of his exploits in Australia and Japan.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has been strongly linked with Liverpool.
