‘I’ve heard’: Simon Jordan thinks 50-year-old boss isn’t right for Liverpool after seeing him linked with job

Simon Jordan has issued his verdict on links suggesting that Liverpool are interested in Thomas Frank as the Reds consider replacing Jurgen Klopp as manager in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp brought the football world to a standstill at one stage last month when he announced that he would be leaving Anfield at the end of the season.

Liverpool now face a monumental decision over who replaces Klopp. And unsurprisingly, a host of names have already been linked with the post. One of those who reportedly has admirers at Liverpool is Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

Simon Jordan not convinced Thomas Frank is the right fit for Liverpool

Frank has done an outstanding job at Brentford. He led the Bees to promotion out of the Championship. And the club have finished in mid-table in their two campaigns in the Premier League, securing a ninth spot finish last year.

Things have been much tougher this season and Brentford potentially find themselves on the periphery of a relegation battle.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan insisted that Brentford should have enough to keep themselves in the league, before commenting on links between Frank and Liverpool.

“I think they’ve got a very good manager,” he said.

“They’ve had a couple of difficult games, but what did you expect Brentford to get from Spurs and from Manchester City? Not a lot. And of course, I know that the games before that, they haven’t won many games.

“I think Thomas Frank is a good manager. I’ve heard people indexing him to the Liverpool job. I don’t think that’s the right fit. But notwithstanding it, I think he’s a good manager.”

Brentford boss would need to hit ground running to unite Reds fanbase

The Liverpool hierarchy will be aware that uniting the fanbase with their choice of Klopp’s successor is going to be nearly impossible. Xabi Alonso is probably the preferred option given his connection with the club and his work with Bayer Leverkusen. But Alonso is untested in the Premier League.

So there will undoubtedly be plenty of Liverpool fans who do not want Frank. There will be a question mark over whether he has the ability to take that next step and manage a massive club.

But he will get the chance to move on at some stage. So it makes all the sense in the world that his name would come up in conversation behind the scenes at Liverpool.

But it is surely fair to assume that Jordan will not be the only one with doubts about whether he is the right man for the Reds.
