‘He is devastating’: TalkSPORT pundit says Liverpool have a player now who’s even better than Roberto Firmino

Many were hoping to see Liverpool struggle when Mohamed Salah went away for the African Cup of Nations last month. However, Jota stepped up, and he has been one of the Reds’ best players since.

Liverpool’s Diogo Jota is a better version of Roberto Firmino

Liverpool signed Diogo Jota from Wolves in 2020 for an initial £41 million fee (BBC).

The Portugal international was fantastic at the Molineux during his time there, but his performances since moving to Liverpool have been on another level.

In 88 starts for the Reds over the last few years, Jota has scored 54 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions. That is a sensational return.

He has been on fire recently too, scoring five goals and providing three assists in just eight games – he started in just four of those fixtures.

Speaking about Jota on talkSPORT, Jason Cundy claimed that he is a better version of Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino.

He said: “That’s where Klopp needs a huge amount of props because he’s turned Jota into this player. I never saw this player at Wolves. I did not see this level even though there’s talent we knew, but I didn’t see this level.

“He’s devastating mate. He punishes you. Not only is he brilliant in front of goal, I think he’s a better version of Firmino.”

Jota is one of Liverpool’s best players

Diogo Jota is a dream player for any manager to have in their side.

The 27-year-old can play anywhere across the front three. He scores goals, provides assists and is just a nightmare to defend against irrespective of where he plays in Liverpool‘s attack.

Jota has never been one to cause an issue when he has been benched either, which shows just how incredible he is – as a player and a professional.

Liverpool take on Arsenal next in what is a massive fixture. Jota is expected to start, and if he has a good game, the Reds could take all three points at the Emirates.
